Meet Dr. Kayla Martinez-Burnap, PT, DPT
Dallas-Fort Worth Director of Therapists + Physical Therapist -Grapevine

Being born and raised in DFW, Dr. Kayla is passionate about serving her community. Additionally, Dr. Kayla is a bilingual Physical Therapist (English and Spanish) who raises awareness that people often dismiss women’s issues as “normal.” Growing up, she went through her own bouts of PT and, as a result, fell in love with helping others through movement. However, when Google and her providers only prescribed kegels and nothing improved, she knew there had to be something better.
To build a strong foundation, Dr. Kayla earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University. Then, she went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. During her schooling, Dr. Kayla served as president of the Physical Therapy Student Association. In addition, she was involved in research that brought awareness and education to the Latino community of Fort Worth. Afterward, she completed post-professional training in pelvic health therapy and earned a certificate in dry needling.
Through continuing education, she has received training that emphasizes treating interstitial cystitis, vaginismus, dyspareunia, urinary problems, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, and athletes. She has also received training from the Postural Restoration Institute, with an emphasis on treating the pelvis.
Dr. Kayla is ready to create a safe space for her patients where she will help educate, equip and empower them to a better quality of life. She believes that everyone should receive individualized care and be treated as a whole person, not just as their diagnosis. She is excited to team up with her patients to help them achieve their goals.
In her spare time, Dr. Kayla loves spending quality time with her her husband (who is her middle school sweetheart), her daughter Maya, their dog Roxy and extended friends and family. She enjoys playing soccer, weightlifting or doing pilates. She loves cooking, watching reality TV or going to concerts.
